To experience this ancient consciousness in its living form, one must journey to the Kingdom of Zanskar (Northern India), Ladakh (Northern India), Mustang (Nepal), and the regions of Guge and Purang (Tibet, now part of China). Worthy of special mention is the Kingdom of Sikkim—Tibetan in its cultural roots, yet politically independent.

“Little Tibet” is more than a poetic term. It refers to regions outside of present-day Chinese Tibet where authentic Tibetan culture has been preserved.
