The Forgotten Kingdoms of the Mind. Healing retreats in the Himalayas

Does your consciousness perceive that, in the Himalayas, monarchies remain not only the prevailing but also the most natural form of state—and even mental—organization?
To truly understand the essence and origins of autocracy, one must come here. This is where the root lies, far before opulent palaces ever rose. And what came before that?Ceremonies. Traditions.Structures not of power, but of consciousness.
The concept of divine right has always been accompanied by striking visual grandeur. People are drawn to beauty and the magnificence of higher purpose. It’s not submission—it’s a refined ability to serve. A quality now seen as controversial, even ego-crushing. And yet, much like the samurai who were prepared to perform seppuku in the name of honor, such service was not humiliation—it was elevation. The samurai, after all, were not mere warriors, but a revered caste. What about a woman’s service to a man?
Does all of this language stir resistance in you?
Our modern world—caught somewhere between atheism and industrialism—has lost many essential meanings. And with them, many have lost themselves. But then, you find yourself in the forgotten kingdoms of Little Tibet, where time seems to have paused—to preserve something sacred. We try endlessly to fit infinity into words. Yet some things must be seen—with the soul, not the eyes.
The luminous, joyful eyes of the locals… People who take delight in their work—arduous as it may be— People who marvel, with childlike wonder, at all that is new, including you.
People who cherish the beauty of their rulers’ attire, admiring the nobility and mercy it represents. Here, the rulers see themselves not as owners of the people, but as guardians.
With a subconscious, ancient impulse to protect and uplift those who place their trust and hopes in them. Those who pray to them and for them.
Do you feel the core difference from modern leadership?
“These are my people”—not as property, not as subjects— but as a sacred responsibility. And in that… lies something truly higher.
To experience this ancient consciousness in its living form, one must journey to the Kingdom of Zanskar (Northern India), Ladakh (Northern India), Mustang (Nepal), and the regions of Guge and Purang (Tibet, now part of China).
Worthy of special mention is the Kingdom of Sikkim—Tibetan in its cultural roots, yet politically independent. It was part of the broader Tibetan civilization but never administratively governed by Tibet itself.
The expansion of consciousness that occurs in these places is unlike anything else—and yet entirely explainable through the lens of how our brain rewires itself. Immersion in a radically different visual landscape, unfamiliar traditions, and a depth of thought untethered to academic knowledge… a happiness completely disconnected from material values.
I will never forget my first journey to Mustang, where in front of the windswept Buddhist monastery of Lo Gekar Gumba, we were greeted by the very first local we encountered from the highlands of Tibet. Her wide smile faded into insignificance beside the playful sparkle in her eyes—eyes as light and joyful as a child’s. Europeans are still rare visitors here, and endlessly fascinating to the locals.
Soon, others began to gather. We stood together, smiling, speaking in our own languages, studying each other with open curiosity. And for some mysterious reason, this simple moment filled us with a strange joy—perhaps even happiness itself.
Hello, human. You are so beautiful… and so different. I’m truly glad that you are different.I don’t need to understand your language—because I can see your soul...
Look at these mountains. Look at this sky! And now look at me — standing against their silent, majestic backdrop in my bright, beautiful garments!
It amazed us throughout the entire journey — that unshakable happiness in their eyes.
We’ve done so much to make our lives in the so-called ‘civilized’ world more comfortable…
Yet we rarely see eyes like that.
That kind of joy.
And you know what? No explanation is needed. No words. No mental analysis. Here, in this silence, in this space — you simply feel the truth: Somewhere along the way, our civilization took a wrong turn.
This blog is not just a collection of stories. Here, my purpose is to transmit meaning.
